Tropical Storm Francine

Dear San Carlos Owners,

Please know that Tropical Storm Francine is forecast to become a hurricane in the western Gulf of Mexico ahead of a Louisiana landfall tomorrow afternoon/evening.

A hurricane warning is in effect along the Louisiana coast from Sabine Pass to Grand Isle. Gulf Shores is expected to be in receipt of the following from this system:

Gulf Shores

1. Tropical storm watch;
2. 3-5″ of rainfall over the next few days;
3. 2-4′ storm surge (i.e. basically water up to the end of the boardwalk);
4. Wind speed reaching highs of 30mph Wednesday night into Thursday morning;

a. Wind gusts reaching 45mph Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

All things considered, this is obviously a close call for Gulf Shores and it appears as though Louisiana (between Lafayette and New Orleans) will absorb the brunt of Francine’s impact.

Regardless, San Carlos staff has secured the building, roof a/c units, pool deck furniture/trash cans, non-rental ’01 and ’09 balcony furniture, etc.

Should this forecast change, I will update the Association with additional information and protective action(s) that we intend to take.

Thank you all sincerely,

-Dan
