Hurricane Ida Updates (8:29:2021 @ 8:45 AM CST)

Good morning San Carlos Owners,

The National Hurricane Center has upgraded Hurricane Ida to a Category 4 storm early this morning with sustained winds of 145 mph (having gained an additional 35 mph over the course of just 6 hours).

Ida is now located approximately 60 miles south of the mouth of the Mississippi River and continues on a path northwest toward Louisiana at 15 mph. Gulf Shores remains under a Tropical Storm Warning and Storm Surge Watch at this point in time.  Other potential local impacts for Gulf Shores include dangerous surf along with a high risk of rip currents today into early next week (double red condition flags throughout).  Heavy rainfall/flash flooding and isolated tornadoes are a significant threat as outer spiral bands rotate in off the Gulf. San Carlos staff will be moving all lobby door sandbags into place this morning, assuring removal of all outdoor items and mats (including all BBQ area items), and double checking each roof and all walkways for debris.
